Project: Graham Farmer Freeway, Stage 2 – Windan Bridge
Client: Transfield-Thiess Joint Venture
Contractor: Thiess Pty Ltd
The Windan Bridge is 403m long, with nine spans over the Swan River. It comprises two, prestressed concrete box girders on two lines of piers, all architecturally related to the adjacent Goongoongup Railway Bridge.
- The two-span, 40m approach structure at the east allows substantial post-construction soil movements. This uses multiple, prestressed concrete girders, which were generally used for the other bridges on the project.
- The Windan Bridge crosses the Swan River and was designed to architecturally match the existing, adjacent, Goongoongup Railway Bridge.
