A Design and Construction contract to provide railway and highway connection to the Port of Geraldton. BG&E’s involvement included the design of sections of the civil works associated with the new highway and railway and the structural design of four bridges and two tunnel structures.
Features:
- 11km of single rail line, with provision for future duplication, from the Narngulu Industrial area to the Geraldton Port.
- 6km of new, dual carriageway highway between the Utakara Road and the Geraldton Port.
- Preliminary design for a further 8.8km of future highway extension between North West Coastal Highway and the Geraldton Airport.
- Four bridges over the highway.
- Two precast arch railway tunnel structures.
- Two major interchanges.
- Construction of an eastern breakwater to the port and town.
- Service relocations associated with the works.
