Project: Graham Farmer Freeway, Stage 2

Stage 2 of the Graham Farmer Freeway included the design of dual, three-lane carriageways that are nearly 4km long. The project included three interchanges and nine bridges, including the 406m long Windan Bridge across the Swan River, the relocation of the Perth-Armadale railway line and construction of a new station and footbridge at Belmont Park. Shared paths and an underpass under East Parade were also required.
Features:
- 4km of dual, three lane urban freeway.
- Interchanges at East Parade, Belmont Park and Great Eastern Highway, with associated bridges.
- The Windan Bridge over the Swan River which is a nine span, 403m long structure.
- A bridge carrying Riversdale Road over the freeway.
- Principal, shared path along the full length of the freeway, with an arch tunnel underpass at East Parade.
- A 1.6km realignment of the Perth – Armadale passenger railway line.
- New Belmont Park railway station.
- Footbridge over the freeway, connecting Belmont Park station to Belmont Park Racecourse.
- Utility services realignments.
